**Sunday morning, August 17 - Youth will not meet at Frankie's in Southern Pines for coffee and Bible study.

**Sunday morning, August 17, 10:30 am - Pastor Dean continues his summer sermon series on King David's life and what we can learn about faith and life, "Real People - Real World - Real Faith."

**Monday, August 18, 6:30 pm - Leadership Community meeting at the church.

**Wednesday, August 20, 7:00 pm - There is a Wednesday Evening Prayer Service each week at the church.  This service is open to all who would like to come.  If you have a prayer request, please fill out the back of a welcome card (located in the chair backs) and place in the offering plate as it is passed.  Extra prayer guides are available on the information table.

**Thursday, August 21, 6:30 pm - Youth Worship Band practice at the church.

**Saturday, August 30 - September 1 - Youth Beach Retreat.  Mark the end of your summer with a beach blowout.  See Joyce Clevenger for more information.

LOOKING AHEAD

**Monday, September 1 - Church office closed for Labor Day holiday.  Have a blessed and safe holiday!

**Wednesday, September 3, 7:00 pm - "Got God Questions?"  Please submit your questions by putting them in the "Got God Questions?" box in the sanctuary.

**Sunday, September 7,  - Grandparent's Sunday and Celebration Dinner (immediately following the worship service) -  Again this year, we will be preparing a slide presentation and and are asking you to submit 2 or 3 photos of you with your grandchildren.  Those should be turned in to the church office by August 24, or digital photos emailed directly to Toni Anne Washington to tawashington@mac.com.  All grandparents are invited, even if your grandchildren are not here.  It is very important that you RSVP by Wednesday, August 27.  A sign-up sheet is on the information table at the back of the sanctuary or you may call the church office.

**Wednesday September 10, 7:00 pm - We will begin a study and prayer time intitled "And The Place Was Shaken."  Did you know that Christianity is advancing in most of the earth except in North America, Japan, Australia, and Western Europe?  A common denominator where Christianity is advancing is Christians devoting significant time for prayer together.  Acts 4:31 says "after they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken."  Please join us for what promises to be an informative, eye-opening study!

**Sunday, September 14 - Annual Pinehurst Marina Worship Service - If you would like to be baptized as a public declaration of your personal faith in Christ at this service, please contact the church office.

**Monday, September 15, 9:00-12:00 - "Monday Mothers' Morning Out Program" - Enroll your infant/preschooler (ages 0-5) today and have 3 hours to yourself every Monday morning from 9:00-12:00 for the next 10 weeks.  Tuition is only $2/hour plus a small activity fee. Slots are filling up quickly; please call Rachel Hernandez at (910) 528-0112 for more details and enrollment.  Christian loving fun for them, time off for you!

**Saturday, September 20 - Church-wide Golf Outing at Southern Pines Golf Club (Elks Club) - This is open to all CCC golfers, their families and friends.  As this date gets closer, we will have more details.  In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact David Gray.

REMINDERS

**Christmas is coming!  The worship department at CCC is planning a very special Christmas program this year and is ready to begin the audition process for musical and narration parts.  We are looking for some strong singers and someone with a good speaking voice for narrator.  Additionally, we are also looking for volunteers to help with makeup, costumes, food serving, decorating, and the clean-up process immediately after the production.  If you would like to participate in any of these areas, please email Rob Ely or contact the church office.

**CCC "Book Club" - An enthusiastic "yes" was voiced for creating a CCC "Book Club" after an engaging discussion of the book Blue Like Jazz.  The group is seeking a point person for the club.  Call the church office to learn more.

**August's list of birthdays and anniversaries is available on the back table in the sanctuary. If you are new and would like to be included, please call or email that information to the office.

**New Directories are available on the information table.  These are printed approximately four times a year and each printing has several changes.  Be sure you have the latest copy and also check your information and let the church office know of any changes.

**Benevolence Giving Envelopes are available in the pockets of the chairs for your benevolence giving.  Please designate the amount of your gift in the appropriate place on the envelope. Your benevolence gifts go to help those in our congregation who may need emergency financial assistance.

**My Spiritual "SHAPE."  We would appreciate your completing this so the office will have a file of your Spiritual "SHAPE" to resource when service opportunities arise.  Please place it in the "Got God Questions?" mailbox when completed.  For your convenience, copies of the Spiritual Gift Profile, Personality Profile and My Spiritual "SHAPE" can now be downloaded and printed from our website home page by clicking on this link http://www.cccpinehurst.com/index.htm.  If you have completed your 'SHAPE' profile, Sunday's insert outlines opportunties of service. 

**News & Notes are emailed by the church office at the end of each week to anyone who would like to receive this information.  If you would like to be added to the contact list to receive this, please call or email the church office with your email information.

**EFCA TODAY is our denomination's magazine, which is published quarterly.  Located on the back table are copies of the Summer 2008 publication; pick up a copy today!

**Would you like to be part of CCC Praying Friends?  CCC has an email prayer chain for prayer requests and updates.  If you are interested in being added to this list, please contact the office either by email at office@cccpinehurst.com, on a card and put in the offering plate on Sunday morning or by phone.  A reminder to those already on the list; when you "reply" to a sender, you are actually replying to the entire group.  Remember to direct your replies to the appropriate party by typing in their email address.

Helpful Hint:  If you do not know their email address, highlight their name in "from" and right click your mouse, go to "properties" and it will give you their actual email address.  You can then create a new message and cut and paste their email address. You can also check your Church directory as you will find most of the email addresses in the directory.
